Scholarships are awarded to students graduating from Marshall High School/Marshall Charter School in Marshall, Wisconsin from the list below. Generally, scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, school activities and community service. Named scholarships may have different (or additional) criteria upon which the scholarship awards are based. 

This list may be subject to change and will be updated as dollar amounts and scholarships are confirmed. In some cases, awards may not be given every year.

Several of these scholarships honor loved ones. Community organizations and clubs have also sponsored scholarships to benefit Marshall High School/Marshall Charter School graduates who are going on furthering their education. In addition to these scholarships, a number of scholarship awards are given each year by Marshall Scholarship Foundation general funds raised through community fund raising.

​Since 2004, over $502,455 in scholarships has been awarded to students graduating from Marshall High School/Marshall Charter School!


Marshall Scholarship Foundation administers the following awards:

Alan Purvis Memorial Scholarship: One (1) scholarship to be awarded in memory of Alan Purvis to a student who will be first generation to pursue education beyond high school and to have indicated that their family receives government financial assistance based on need. $1,000.

Ben Chadwick Memorial Scholarship: Two (2) scholarships to be awarded in memory of Ben Chadwick to students who participated in FFA, 4-H, or had an agriculture-related job, education or background and intends to pursue post-secondary education or other formal training in any field of study. $500.

Bernie Olson VFW Scholarship:  One (1) scholarship to be awarded in memory of Bernie Olson to a student who intends to pursue post-secondary education or other formal training in journalism, literature, writing or languages. $1,000.

Catherine Lazers Bauer Scholarship:  One (1) scholarship to be awarded in memory of Catherine Lazers Bauer to a student who intends to study writing or use of words (such as journalism, news media) or if none, a student who shows creativity or skill in writing their essay in the scholarship application. $500.

Clarissa Porter Scholarship:  Two (2) scholarships in memory of Clarissa Porter to students who intend to pursue post-secondary education or other formal training in any area of study. $1500 each.

Daniel Veith Memorial Scholarship: One (1) scholarship to be awarded in memory of Daniel Veith to a student who has attained a high school GPA of 2.50 or higher and is pursuing post-secondary education. $1,000.

Ernst Family Scholarship: One (1) scholarship available to a student who will pursue post-secondary education at Drake University, Ripon College, Syracuse University, or Illinois State University, or if none, a student who impresses the Marshall Scholarship Foundation awards committee as someone who might travel abroad. $1,000.

Eugene N. Fox Memorial Scholarship:  Up to twelve (12) scholarships to be awarded in memory of Eugene N. Fox to students who have shown success in Marshall High School sports and academics by lettering at least once in a varsity sport and by attaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Greater emphasis is placed on GPA than additional varsity letters. Scholarships will be awarded to an equal number of female and male students. $500 each.

Lorie Nikolay Memorial Scholarship: One (1) scholarship to be awarded in memory of Lorie Nikolay to a student who is pursuing post-secondary education. Preference will be given to an ESL (English as a Second Language) or bilingual student. $1,000.

Marshall Scholarship Foundation General and Founders Scholarships: Scholarships for students who are intending to pursue post-secondary education or other formal training. Award selections are based on merit. Work ethic and contribution to school and community will be given equal consideration to grade point average, class rank, and college entrance exams. Exact number of scholarships awarded and amount determined by Marshall Scholarship Foundation Awards Committee annually.

Marshall Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. Two (2) scholarships available to students who demonstrated participating in being of service to Marshall schools, church, home and community or may pursue a career in an area of study related to emergency services, such as fire department, police, ambulance, etc. Citizenship, character, personality and academic achievement will also be considered. One will be awarded to a male student and one to a female student. $500 each.

Mary W. Stremmer Educational Trust Fund Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded using guidance provided in the trust documents. Committee members include the high school principal, guidance counselor, superintendent, a representative appointed by the school board and community members who reside in the school district. Exact number of scholarships awarded and amount of scholarships are determined annually.

Ponti Family Scholarship: One (1) scholarship to a students who intends to participate in ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) or has volunteered or participated in programs with the VFW or American Legion during high school. $500.

Ray and Darlene DeChant Scholarship: One (1) scholarship available to a student who intends to  pursue post-secondary education in a field of study related to the financial industry (such as broker, accountant, banker) at a college or university in the state of Wisconsin. Student must have an overall high school GPA of 3.3 or higher. $3,000.

Roelof and Wilma Kraak Family Scholarship: Two (2) scholarships for students who are intending to pursue post-secondary education or other formal training in the healthcare or construction field. $1,200 each.

Tyler Tweed Memorial Scholarship: One (1) scholarship to be awarded in memory of Tyler Tweed to a student who participated in a high school class, job or hobby that involved working on equipment. Ideally, the recipient intends to pursue a post secondary education in a field of study as a mechanic at an accredited school. $1,000.

Tyson Family Scholarship: Two (2) scholarships for students who are intending to pursue post-secondary education or other formal training. Ideally, one student pursuing either business and finance and one student pursuing medicine, nursing or veterinary sciences. $2,000 each.

Woerpel Family Scholarship: Two (2) scholarships for students who are intending to pursue post-secondary education or other formal training, with a priority given to communications and or journalism. $500 each.
